Why You'll Regret Getting a French Bulldog (But Do It Anyway)

Absolutely Do Not Get
a French Bulldog
I repeat: do not let anyone fool you with phrases like "low maintenance," "they're so chill," or "they don't need much exercise."
That is fiction.
Frenchies are not dogs. They are tiny, snorting roommates with the confidence of a linebacker and the emotional stability of a toddler who skipped nap time.
They don't walk through your house… they patrol it.
Every room you enter? They're already there. Every snack you open? They heard the wrapper from three neighborhoods away. Every bathroom trip? Congratulations, you've got an audience.
CLAIMS FOUND TO BE FALSE UPON INSPECTION:
Look at this face. Does that look like a pet?
No. That is your supervisor, making sure you're using your PTO responsibly.
Frenchies are not independent. They require constant quality assurance checks to ensure you are still alive. Close the bathroom door? They'll file a formal complaint. Leave the house for 12 minutes? Expect to return to a dramatic reunion worthy of a military homecoming.
You think you're getting a dog. What you actually get:
- Snores louder than your uncle after Thanksgiving dinner
- Farts like it's a competitive sport
- Insists on sleeping in the exact spot you were about to sit
- Stares at you while you eat until you question your own morality
- Follows you everywhere like an oddly shaped shadow
- Believes every blanket belongs to them
- Has the zoomies for exactly 37 seconds before needing a nap
- Somehow weighs 22 pounds but feels like 300 when asleep on your legs
They don't fetch. They negotiate.
They don't listen. They consider your commands… then decide whether they're worth acknowledging.
Your New Job Title(s)
So please… consider another breed. Because once you get a Frenchie, you no longer own a dog. You become:
- Full-time Butler
- Personal Chef
- Blanket Warmer
- Emotional Support Human
- Professional Treat Dispenser
And somehow… you'll still swear they're the best decision you've ever made.
